To the incredible IFCLA community:
After sincere and intentional discernment, I have decided to transition out of my role at IFCLA. Working at IFCLA has been one of the most challenging and rewarding opportunities of my life. I have absolutely given my whole self to this position since I began as staff in 2016. We have made great progress since then, through difficult decisions, great transitions, and inspiring visions. I am humbled by the support we built not only in the St. Louis community, but beyond - reaching into outstate Missouri and even nationwide. I have learned to claim the victories, even when they feel like shortcomings towards our greater mission.
I am honored to have been part of a dedicated, passionate and creative team - the largest and most diverse in IFCLA’s 40-year history. We have become an organization that invests in and recognizes the benefits of mentoring, developing, and being informed by young, passionate people. The commitment and vision of this team, who are resolute in pushing IFCLA to center the voices, expertise and experience of directly impacted individuals and communities of color more broadly, have enabled us to make the commitment to become a statewide immigrant-led organization by 2025. I have total confidence that this team will sustain our efforts moving forward as IFCLA begins to recruit new leadership and continue growing in pursuit of a future for Missouri that is rooted in liberation, justice and love.
I remain proud of the work we accomplished together and excited for the future IFCLA will undoubtedly help realize in Missouri. I look forward to continuing to support the staff, the organization and the movement in new ways and will be eager to follow the continued progress this incredible team will make.

A la comunidad increíble de IFCLA,
Después de un tiempo de discernimiento intencional y sincero, he decidido terminar mi tiempo como directora de IFCLA. Trabajar en IFCLA ha sido una de las oportunidades más difíciles y gratificantes de toda mi vida. Me he entregado totalmente a este trabajo, desde que empecé como empleada en el 2016. Hemos logrado mucho desde entonces, navegando decisiones difíciles, grandes transiciones, y visiones inspiradoras. El apoyo que hemos recibido no tanto en la comunidad de San Luis sino hasta más allá - en las áreas rurales de Misuri y hasta a nivel nacional - me conmueve mucho. He aprendido a reconocer las victorias en esta lucha, aun cuando a veces parecen como fallas o insuficientes como parte de la misión más grande.
Siento mucho orgullo de haber sido parte de un equipo dedicado, apasionado y creativo - el más grande y más diverso en toda la historia de 40 años de nuestra organización. Nos hemos convertido en una organización que invierte en y reconoce los beneficios de ser mentor, desarrollar, y dejar que nos mejoren las personas jóvenes y apasionadas. El compromiso y la visión del equipo de IFCLA, guiado por personas determinadas de seguir insistiendo en que IFCLA de prioridad a las voces, experiencias y habilidades de personas directamente impactadas y gente de color por lo general, esto nos ha permitido hacer el gran compromiso de convertirnos en una organizacion estatal y liderada por inmigrantes antes del año 2025. Tengo toda la confianza del mundo en este equipo. Dear Friends of IFCLA ,
As we head into the promise of spring and brighter days to come, I share the bittersweet news that our stellar Executive Director, Sara John, will be transitioning from IFCLA in late April for another leadership opportunity focused on breaking cycles of poverty in Missouri. During her time with IFCLA, Sara has been instrumental in leading our organization into new growth by expanding our programing, forging a powerful staff team and exponentially increasing and diversifying our funding sources. Her tremendous passion and intellect for the important work of IFCLA will be greatly missed. I know her many talents will be a vital asset in her new role, and she will continue to shine! Our Board and staff invite you to join us to celebrate Sara and send her onto her next adventure with blessings and joy on Wednesday, April 13, from 5pm - 7 pm at Tapped in Maplewood. This will also be part of our Charity of the Week series at Tapped, so all tips during that week will be donated to IFCLA. We hope to see you there!
The Board is proud of where we’ve come since 2015, and the metrics are impressive! Together with our staff team, we’ve developed an exciting plan to become a statewide, immigrant-led organization fighting for liberation, justice and dignity for all Missourians.
